A Warm Welcome for the X Games
The Ventura County Fairgrounds was abuzz with energy as the X Games returned for the second time in less than a year. Organizers were thrilled to see the community embrace the event, with Marlyss Auster, the President and CEO of Visit Ventura, expressing her hope that the games will continue to find a home in the city. "The community showed up, the partners showed up, and X Games absolutely loved Ventura, once again," Auster said, reflecting on the overwhelming support and enthusiasm from the local residents.
A Comfortable and Spacious Experience
The expanded footprint of the X Games this year provided a more comfortable and enjoyable experience for both the athletes and the spectators. "It felt different because we were twice the size, so we had stroller room and we had room to move around, so it felt really comfortable," Auster noted, highlighting the improved logistics and crowd management.
Businesses Reap the Benefits
The influx of visitors to the Ventura County Fairgrounds during the X Games brought a welcome boost to nearby businesses. Tony's Pizzaria on E. Thompson Blvd. saw an increase in foot traffic as people made their way to and from the event. Owner Bruce Barrios credited the strategic parking setup, which directed visitors away from the fairgrounds, as a key factor in driving more customers to his establishment.
Surf Rodeo: Ventura's Next Exciting Event
As the X Games depart, Ventura is gearing up for its next major event: the Surf Rodeo. Scheduled for the weekend immediately following the Fourth of July, this old-school Ventura event promises a thrilling mix of surf contests, a mechanical bull, cornhole competitions, prizes, a beach bar, and more. Auster described the Surf Rodeo as an event that perfectly captures the essence of the city, saying, "This weekend is going to be amazing."
Ventura's Unwavering Community Spirit
Throughout the X Games and the upcoming Surf Rodeo, Ventura has demonstrated its unwavering community spirit. Residents and visitors alike have embraced the energy and excitement of these events, creating a vibrant atmosphere that showcases the city's commitment to celebrating its unique identity and supporting local businesses. As Ventura continues to navigate the uncertainty surrounding the X Games' future location, the community's resilience and enthusiasm remain steadfast, ensuring that Ventura remains a premier destination for action sports enthusiasts and event-goers alike.
