The Pine Island F.I.S.H. (Fellow Islanders Sending Help) Basket Brigade is a heartwarming annual initiative that aims to ensure the children of Greater Pine Island have the necessary clothing and resources to start the school year with confidence and enthusiasm. Clothing and Essentials for All

The Basket Brigade's primary focus is to provide new clothing and personal care items to families in need, allowing their children to begin the school year feeling prepared and confident. The organizers are seeking donations and volunteers to help with purchasing and distributing these essential items. From tops and bottoms to socks and grooming products, the goal is to ensure that every student has the necessary attire and supplies to participate fully in their academic and extracurricular activities.Last year, the program served 198 students, and a similar number is expected this year. The clothing distribution event, scheduled for August 3rd from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m., will take place in the Pine Island United Methodist Church parking lot, providing parents with ample time to make any necessary exchanges or additional purchases before the start of the school year.

The Basket Brigade recognizes the unique needs of older students, who often require more specialized clothing and accessories. To address this, the program will be providing 0 gift cards to children aged 12-18, with designated for clothing and for gym shoes and socks. This approach allows these students to take an active role in selecting items that align with their personal style and preferences, fostering a sense of independence and self-expression.
